Professor Dinesh Chandra Rai is Vice-Chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, and a distinguished academic in Dairy Science and Food Technology. A Gold Medallist from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), he holds a Ph.D. in Dairy Technology and has over 32 years of teaching, research, and leadership experience. He was the Founding Head of the Department of Dairy Science & Food Technology at BHU, where he established B.Tech. and M.Tech. programs, and has guided 26 Ph.D. and 52 M.Sc. scholars. With 194 research papers, several books, and international fellowships including the Commonwealth Academic Fellowship (UK), Prof. Rai has contributed globally, visiting over 20 countries for academic collaborations. He is Fellow of multiple national academies, recipient of ICAR Best Teacher Award, SAB Award of Excellence, and Bihar Kesari Sammaan (2025). He was Commonwealth Academic Fellow, University of Reading, UK, Visiting Professor at Cornell University and Tuskegee University, United States, and Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (India) deputed him for Training on Leadership for Academicians Programme at Ohio State University, USA. His expertise continues to shape education, research, and policy in food and dairy sciences.
