Journal Submission Guidelines

The STRATI Journal of Rural Economics and Development is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary, and open-access international journal dedicated to advancing scholarly and policy-oriented research on the economic, social, and environmental dynamics shaping rural areas across the globe. It serves as a platform for exploring the structural transformation of rural economies, sustainable livelihoods, agrarian change, rural labor markets, and rural-urban linkages within the broader context of inclusive and sustainable development.

The journal welcomes both theoretical and empirical contributions that offer innovative insights into rural development strategies, agricultural economics, land use, rural finance, migration, rural institutions, and governance. It emphasizes the importance of equity, environmental sustainability, and community participation in rural development processes.

Manuscripts should typically be between 6,000 and 8,000 words, with an abstract of not more than 200 words. Submissions must be original and accompanied by a plagiarism report. All articles are subject to a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, and the journal maintains a turnaround time of no more than two months from submission to initial decision.

The journal invites work from economists, development practitioners, policy experts, sociologists, environmental scientists, geographers, and interdisciplinary scholars with a focus on the rural transformation agenda.

The STRATI Journal of Rural Economics and Development aims to foster a deeper understanding of rural economies and to inform policy and practice that can lead to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable rural transformation. It provides a forum for critical engagement with issues at the heart of rural development, including agricultural transitions, non-farm rural employment, infrastructure development, climate resilience, and social protection.

The journal’s scope extends beyond agriculture to encompass the entire rural development spectrum, highlighting interlinkages with food systems, land tenure, gender relations, environmental conservation, health, education, digital inclusion, and financial services. The journal is particularly interested in studies that address rural poverty, inequality, and regional disparities and that propose scalable and inclusive policy solutions.
