Prof. Tapan Kumar Shandilya

Professor Tapan Kumar Shandilya, a Gold Medalist and Professor of Economics, is a distinguished academic leader and economist with about four decades of experience in higher education and research. His exceptional leadership qualities led to high-level appointments as Pro-Vice Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor at V.K.S. University, Ara, Bihar, Pro-Vice Chancellor at T.M. Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur, Bihar, and Vice-Chancellor of Nalanda Open University, Patna, Bihar. He also previously served with great zeal as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi, Jharkhand and Neelambar Pitamber University, Medininagar, Palamu, Jharkhand. With over a decade of high-level administrative experience, Prof. Shandilya is focused on transforming institutions into premier centers for learning and research. An eminent scholar, Prof. Shandilya has authored 20 books, published over 100 research papers, and guided more than 34 Ph.D. scholars. He is Chief Editor of the Bihar Economic Journal and Associate Editor of the Indian Economic Journal. Recognized internationally, he has presented at global forums in Thailand, Bhutan, and Malaysia, integrating global perspectives into Indian academia. His numerous honors include the Life Time Achievement Award of the Indian Economic Association (2018) and the Shiksha Ratna Samman (2024).
